WElcome to Shelquin Labradors Reg'd

I am a small preservation breeder, located in the East Bay Area of Northern California; in the foothills of beautiful Mount Diablo. I have loved dogs all my life, but my love and appreciation of Labrador Retrievers started with the addition of our chocolate Labrador, Ben, to my family in 2003. I love the temperament, beauty, trainability, and versatility of this great family companion breed. There is no mystery as to why the Labrador Retriever has been the number one AKC Registered dog in America for many years, this breed is my passion!

I prefer the "Bench", or "English" style breed type which conforms to the Labrador Retriever Breed Standard. My breeding goals are to to improve upon the health and conformation of my own dogs, and to preserve the bloodlines, working ability, and the temperament already present in the Labrador Retriever. I registered my kennel name with the AKC in 2014 after satisfying the requirements to do so.

Several of the dogs that I have produced are either, graduated, in training or in the breeding program at Guide Dogs of America; serve as Hearing Dogs; Service Dogs; compete in AKC Obedience and Hunt Tests; work as personal hunting companions; PTSD service dogs for veterans, and as well-loved family companions. I am equally proud of them all.

All of the Labrador Retrievers used in my breeding program have Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) clearances of Hips and Elbows, current annual OFA Eye ACVO exams, Echocardiogram Cardiac Clearance, are DNA gene tested for Prcd-PRA, EIC, HNPK,and Dilute Free status, and are Registered with the American Kennel Club (AKC). I breed litters primarily for myself and I reserve the right to pick my puppy(s) until at least 8 weeks of age. These puppies will be the future of my show and breeding program, although I will have puppies available to highly qualified, pre-screened homes. We do not ship puppies sight unseen, no exceptions. Puppies placed in pet homes will come with AKC Limited Registration and must be spayed or neutered at the appropriate time. We reserve the right to refuse to sell a puppy to any individual(s) at anytime, for any reason, at our discretion.

I compete with my dogs in American Kennel Club Conformation shows and Specialties, AKC sanctioned matches and events, and earn Canine Good Citizenship titles and Labrador Retriever Club Inc Working Certificates. We are members of the Parent Club, Labrador Retriever Club Inc., since 2015, and the Golden Gate Labrador Retriever Club since 2003. My dogs are considered full fledged family members and spend the majority of their time in the house with us, and make excellent couch and foot warmers.

Please make yourself at home, and contact me with any questions you have!
