Welcome to Shelquin Labradors! We are a small hobby breeder, located in the East Bay Area of Northern California, in the foothills of beautiful Mount Diablo. I have loved dogs all my life, but my love and appreciation of Labradors Retrievers started with the addition of our chocolate Labrador, Ben to my family in 2004. I love the temperament, beauty, trainability, and versatility of this great family companion breed. There is no mystery as to why the Labrador Retriever has been the number one AKC registered dog in America for years.
I prefer the "Show", or "English" style breed type which conforms to the Labrador Retriever Breed Standard. My breeding goals are to do no harm, and to preserve the wonderful traits already present in the Labrador Retriever, and to improve upon my own dogs.
All of the Labrador Retrievers used in my breeding program have Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) clearances of hips and elbows, and current annual Canine Eye Registry Foundation (CERF) exams at the minimum, and are Registered with the American Kennel Club (AKC). I will be breeding litters primarily for myself and I reserve the right to pick my puppy(s) until at least 8 weeks of age. These puppies will be the future of my show and breeding program, although I will occasionally have puppies available to highly qualified, pre-screened homes. Puppies placed in pet homes will come with AKC Limited Registration and must be spayed or neutered.
My daughter and I show our dogs in American Kennel Club conformation shows, specialties and events and I am an active member of the Golden Gate Labrador Retriever Club, the Sierra Vista Labrador Retriever Club, and the National Labrador Retriever Club.
All my dogs are considered family members, and spend most of their time indoors with the rest of the family, keeping the couch, and our toes, warm.
Please make yourself at home and stay awhile, feel free sign my guestbook, and to contact me with any questions you have!
